Hello and thank you for visiting my website! My name is Dan Zwerg, originally from Biloxi, Mississippi, now residing in Ocean Springs.
I am the Technology Director at St. Stanislaus College. Some call me the”Renaissance Man” because of the number of hats I wear at the school. I am also the sailing team coach, and RC club moderator. I have taught web design and desktop publishing at SSC since 2001, but I actually built my first website back in 1995.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from Mississippi State University and a Masters in Technology Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Since then, I have taken additional courses in computer programming, am certified by the state of Mississippi Department of Education to teach a wide variety of computer-related courses and have numerous other certifications.
I have had an exciting career path doing intriguing work in science and technology at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Research Labaratory, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, NASA at Stennis Space Center, and of course St. Stanislaus, to name a few. My interest and expertise with computers evolved and improved with each career step.
The technology to build websites has changed tremendously since those early days too–I first coded completely in html. Then came more advance coding, then programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver to make sites even better. Today I am even more excited than ever to be building sites in WordPress, probably the most powerful tool ever to make beautiful dynamic websites.
When I’m not teaching, or conducting, or sailing, you might find me out at the RC club flying, or maybe even SCUBA diving. All of these interests are widely varied, but along with website design, they share one common attraction–they each have a technical element to them. As such, there are always problems to solve and that’s what I do best!
